Are you afraid when you hear the word public speaking?

Public speaking anxiety is one of the most common fears out there. In fact, did you know that many people fear speaking in public more than they fear death? Sounds surprising, right? But it's true for most. I’m here to tell you that it’s not as big of a deal as it may seem, and that you can absolutely overcome that fear. I’ve been teaching public speaking for about 10 years, and I can tell you it’s not uncommon for students to be so nervous about giving presentations that they might even skip class on presentation day! But you know what? The most rewarding part of my job is watching my students completely transform by the end of the semester. YES, it’s possible—I’ve seen it happen time and time again. Those nervous, unsure faces that walk into my classroom on day one leave on day 45 as confident, happy individuals, proud of what they’ve accomplished after making it through the nine weeks in Mrs. Yiakos’s class—just like I promised!
